Aug. 6th, 2013 06:30 pmCHARACTER NAME: Nick Andros
CHARACTER CANON: The Stand by Stephen King
[OOC]
Slowtagging: Yes, although if it's going to be extra slow please give me a heads up.
Canon-puncturing: No, thank you.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): As long as we talk about it first, I'm good with pretty much anything handled maturely.
[IC]
Hugging this character: Yes. As long as it's friendly and Nick can see it coming, go for it.
Kissing this character: Not an absolute no, but unless Nick a) likes your character That Way and b) the moment is right, he won't be very receptive. If you're not sure, ask.
Flirting with this character: Yes, although don't expect him to be super-suave in return.
Fighting with this character: Nick isn't very aggressive, so it's not likely he'll be starting any fights, but he will try to finish them (in a bloody mess, probably).
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Bruises and cuts are fine, but I'd like to talk about anything major before it happens.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Yes.
General Warnings: Nick is a fairly major spoiler for his canon, but I'll try not to refer to anything too specific and to give warning before major plot points come up, but if you're in the middle of the book/comic/miniseries you should probably steer clear of him.
Since Nick is deaf, he relies on his vision for his situational awareness. As a lip reader, if he can't see the face of the person he's talking to or their speech is heavily accented, impaired, or in some other way not typical of American English he won't know what's being said. He can pick up a little on what's happening out of his field of vision based on other sensory cues, and his life as a drifter has made him very conscious of his own personal safety, so it's not assumed that someone would be able to, say, sneak up behind him. Nick communicates through writing--if your character can't read, they'll have to figure something else out.
[GODMODDING]
GENERAL: Nick can be spotted around the hotel a lot, since he now lives there, so feel free to mention the skinny dude who doesn't speak. If your character is attentive, they may be able to pick up that Nick is deaf.
Appearance-wise, Nick has black hair, blue eyes, and looks like he could use about ten sandwiches. He's a little shorter than average, but not significantly. Most people guess that he's younger than he is. His uniform of choice is blue jeans and a t-shirt, possibly with a jacket if the weather turns cold.
